# Bringing your API key

> Add your Anthropic API key so Xura can reason on your behalf.

## Why you need one

Xura's reasoning layer is Anthropic's Claude. You bring your own key so:

* Usage is billed to you directly (transparent, no markup).
* Your API context and data privacy settings apply.
* You control which models you're paying for.

## Adding your key

**AI Studio → LLM Configuration → API key → Set**. Xura encrypts the key at rest per-user.

## What Xura does with it

* Every LLM turn (planning, reasoning, agents) uses your key.
* No key is ever logged or shared.
* Rotate anytime — replace via the same field.

Anthropic offers \~\$5 in free credits on signup. Enough to try Xura, run a few flows, generate a Signals pass or two.
